Employee Assistance Programmes or Employee Support Services provide one to one counselling to help employees deal with problems which may have an adverse impact on their work performance. These problems may be work related such as work stress, work life balance, bullying, interpersonal work relationships, health and well-being, diversity in the workplace or, personal issues which affect work performance such as substance abuse, mental health, personal relationship difficulties, financial worries, bereavement or any emotional distress which affects our functioning as a person.
Employee support services have shown to provide savings for the employer by reducing absences and sick leave, increasing productivity, assisting in return to work and improving communications. For employees, support services have shown to improve resilience, stress management, communication, commitment and job satisfaction and give better problem solving skills.
